Ron Adhya, former Regional Director/Engineer of FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) San Francisco Regional office joined The Kohan Group, Inc. in January 2010. Ron attended University of Colorado for Ph.D. in soil mechanics and he earned his master’s degree in civil engineering from Cooper Union, New York.
Ron has more than 30 years of experience in safety evaluation of existing dams including a broad variety of design and analysis experience of embankment and concrete dams. He managed dam safety projects for six states (California, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah while with FERC. Ron has served as technical lead, lead geotechnical engineer, and project manager on over 100 hydropower infrastructure projects. He has worked with multi-disciplinary teams to manage multi-purpose projects.
Several projects include limit equilibrium slope stability analysis, seepage analysis, foundation design, anchor design, earthfill and rockfill embankment design, finite element analysis, finite difference analysis, seismic deformation analysis, and liquefaction induced flow slide analysis. He was also involved on international projects in Indonesia, India, and China on safety evaluation of existing dams and use of finite element programs for design and analysis of dams.
